I would just like to say a big THANK YOU for all you have done for Christian Aid Week 2025!
I have really enjoyed visiting as many of your events as I could manage, following lots more on Facebook and receiving your pictures and reports by email. I wish I could be in more places at once, because I have been overwhelmed with joy (and pride) at all the wonderful things that have happened across Cumbria and the North East to raise money and stand in solidarity with our global neighbours. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making it all happen – you have truly inspired me.
Do book in for our regional 80th Anniversary Celebration event and Hadrian’s Wall Challenge on Saturday 12 July at 5pm so I can thank you and your Christian Aid volunteers in person. We will celebrate all that has been done in Christian Aid Week 2025 as well as giving thanks to God for 80 years of Christian Aid. We will be joined by guest speaker Pete Moorey, Head of Community & Church Fundraising and Engagement at Christian Aid, and you’ll be able to view our new Poster Art and the Power of Hope exhibition.
Please register at caid.org.uk/HadriansWall so we know numbers for catering.
If you like a challenge, you could walk or cycle Hadrian’s Wall, arriving in Haltwhistle for the celebration event. I know some of you are planning to walk the whole Wall, and we are providing suggested route notes for those who wish to walk a smaller portion on the day. You can take the train to Haltwhistle or park your car there and take the Hadrian’s Wall bus to your choice of walk starting point. Alternatively you can start cycling in Bowness in Solway with other Christian Aid supporters. Bring all your friends and any keen walkers/ cyclists! All info can be found at caid.org.uk/HadriansWall
Please do advertise this event and encourage your congregations and faithful Christian Aid volunteers to come to this special event. You can download posters to display at church and a social media image for your Facebook page from this folder: Hadrians Wall Challenge and Celebration. I expect to add a few more resources in the next week or so. Do let me know if you have any trouble accessing the folder.
For now, may I reiterate my thanks to you for a fantastic Christian Aid Week, and best wishes for those events (and steps!) that are yet to take place in the next fortnight or so or later in the year. I hope you can have a well-earned rest!
With very best wishes,
Helen
