The Church of England have released details of the new Bishop of Penrith: –
“We are delighted to announce that the Rev Canon Doctor Michael Leyden – currently the founding Dean of Emanuel Theological College – has been nominated as the next Suffragen Bishop of Penrith.
Michael has strong connections with Cumbria having supported scores of people from the county in their calling to ordination, ministry and lay leadership. Born and raised on council estates in Merseyside, Michael has a passion for supporting the under–represented and vulnerable.
Michael is to be the new Chair of the Diocesan Board of Education, working closely with our team to support our family of church schools across the Diocese. I know he is excited about getting to meet you all and working with you.
Please hold Michael, his wife, Anna, and their family in your thoughts or prayers as he prepares to take up this role at the end of April.”
