We are delighted to be hosting three paintings from the Art Collection by Roy D’Maistre and Ceri Richard over the Easter period at Kirkby Stephen Methodist Church.
These paintings are linked to the Resurrection of Jesus, one outside the tomb, the other two are of the meal at Emmaus, when the two Disciples eyes were opened as the risen Jesus Christ revealed himself to them.
This loan is ground breaking and will be the first ever “Small Rural Exhibition” from the Methodist Modern Art Collection. It has been timed to coincide with Easter and the Easter Vintage Bus & Vehicle Rally in the Kirkby Stephen area, when over 3000 people visit over the 2 days of Easter.
We want to take this opportunity to share the good news of Jesus Christ with as many people as possible. The Local schools have been invited along with the Local Art Groups. There will be a lecture by Prof Ann Sumner, who curates the Collection. We will also have life-sized reproductions of two further works of art from the Collection and a PowerPoint slideshow of the rest of the Methodist Modern Art Collection on display in the church.
We will be sharing opening times for the exhibition shortly.
