A picture of John Nilsen at Newbiggin on Lune with some of the audience for his virtuoso concert, played on the church piano. John played his own compositions , classical pieces, jazz , a number of Hymn tunes with wonderful variations , we thoroughly enjoyed it.
John’s playing was inspirational , ‘I didn’t know our piano could sound like that’, another said , the soaring melodies and quiet pieces were a spiritual experience’ .
A fantastic event was rounded off with a piece composed in memory of his father.
Thank you to all those who came , each of us was blessed.
A charming man and an amazing musician, John discovered the Beatles at 6 , and from then on he just wanted to play.
